Kyle Tucker to the Mets? Myles Straw’s Deleted IG Post Fuels Speculation

The MLB rumor mill kicked into overdrive on Tuesday after Myles Straw briefly posted—and then quickly deleted—a photo on Instagram showing a Kyle Tucker–signed jersey that appeared to be a New York Mets jersey.

The post didn’t stay up long, but it stayed up long enough.

Straw and Kyle Tucker share a close relationship dating back to their time together with the Houston Astros, and Straw even served as a groomsman at Tucker’s wedding in 2024. That connection—and the speed with which the post disappeared—only added fuel to the fire.

Why the Post Matters

Deleted social media posts rarely calm speculation—especially this time of year.

While there’s no confirmation that the jersey signals anything imminent, the optics are hard to ignore:

  • A signed Tucker jersey

  • Appears to be Mets colors

  • Posted by a close friend and former teammate

  • Deleted shortly after going live

In the current MLB landscape, that’s enough to set off alarms.

Kyle Tucker’s Case: Superstar Production

What makes the intrigue even louder is Tucker’s undeniable on-field dominance. Over his last 160 games, Tucker has posted elite, MVP-caliber numbers:

  • .290 / .402 / .537

  • 40 home runs

  • 31 stolen bases

  • 169 wRC+

  • 15.5% walk rate

  • 15% strikeout rate

  • 8 Defensive Runs Saved

  • 8.0 fWAR

That’s not just star production—that’s top-tier, franchise-altering impact on both sides of the ball.

What We Know About the Mets’ Interest

According to recent rumors, the Mets expect to receive an answer from Tucker relatively soon. However, league chatter suggests the team’s front office does not currently have a clear read on which direction Tucker may be leaning.

That uncertainty makes moments like Straw’s post stand out even more—especially when paired with the urgency implied by “soon.”

Reading Between the Lines

To be clear, there is no official confirmation tying Tucker to the Mets at this point. But in an era where information leaks in unconventional ways, a deleted Instagram post from a trusted inner-circle figure doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

At minimum, it underscores two things:

  1. The Mets are very much in the mix

  2. A decision may be closer than publicly acknowledged

Final Take

It may turn out to be nothing more than a coincidence—or it could be the first quiet hint of something massive on the horizon.

Either way, when a close friend posts a Kyle Tucker–signed Mets jersey and deletes it minutes later, people are going to notice.

And until Tucker makes his decision official, the speculation isn’t going anywhere.
