According to multiple reports, Roman Anthony will remain with the Boston Red Sox for a very long time!  Boston is betting big on its latest homegrown star. According to multiple reports, 21-year-old outfielder Roman Anthony is finalizing an eight-year contract extension with the Boston Red Sox worth $130 million, with escalators that could push the deal’s total value to $230 million. The agreement would keep Anthony in Boston through the 2034 season.

Roman Anthony’s deal with Boston will start in 2026 and includes significant escalators that could take the maximum value of the deal to $230 million,” ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Wednesday. “Depending on where he finishes in AL Rookie of the Year voting, it would buy out three or four years of free agency.”

In 46 MLB games, Anthony has slashed .283/.400/.428 with two home runs, 19 RBIs, and 15 doubles. He’s also boasted elite plate discipline and OPS+, making him one of Boston’s most reliable hitters in recent months.

Baseball Prospectus and Baseball America ranked him as the No. 1 overall prospect heading into 2025. His rapid development in the minors—including a 497-foot grand slam in Triple-A Worcester—validated all the hype moving into his MLB debut.

In less than two months, Roman Anthony went from prospect buzz to franchise centerpiece. This extension isn’t just about numbers—it’s about signaling Boston’s youth movement and making bold baseball decisions early.

If he lives up to the promise, this deal could be one of the defining extensions of the new era of MLB superstar contracts.
