Pat Murphy Named 2025 NL Manager of the Year

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has been voted the 2025 National League Manager of the Year, marking the second consecutive season he has taken home the honor. With 27 of 30 first-place votes, he led the ballot by a wide margin.

Murphy now stands in rarified company, only the third manager in major-league history to win back-to-back Manager of the Year awards in the NL. He joins Bobby Cox (2004-05) and Kevin Cash (2020-21 in the AL) in that exclusive club.

What He Achieved in 2025

Under Murphy’s leadership, the Brewers finished 97-65, establishing a franchise record for wins and securing the best overall record in baseball in 2025. Milwaukee also claimed the NL Central title and advanced to the National League Championship Series.

Those accomplishments stand out even more when viewed in context:

  • The Brewers had significant turnover and departures from their roster, yet still improved.

  • Milwaukee overcame injuries and maintained depth and consistency throughout the season.

  • Murphy’s clubhouse culture, focus on fundamentals, and ability to close out games were frequently cited as keys to the team’s success.

Pat Murphy’s back-to-back awards ensure his name is firmly etched among the elite managers in the game and suggest that the Brewers are a serious force in the NL for the foreseeable future.

Congratulations to Murphy, his staff, and the Brewers organization on a historic and well-deserved honor.

Brad
