New York Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks @ 8:40 PM CT
Extremely good spot to back McLean tonight. Typically we have seen McLean have K lines around 6.5, so getting him on a discount tonight is great. It might be because of the poor start against LAA (where he still got 6 Ks over 4 innings on 78 pitches).
McLean faced Arizona on 4/9, recording 8 Ks across an easy 6.1 IP. Considering how much he dominated that lineup I don’t feel worried about it being his second time facing them in a month.
When McLean is at his best, he is getting ahead in counts quickly and forcing hitters to guess with 2 strikes, leading to disgusting whiffs. He can also dot his sinker to start like its going to hit you in the hip, then break in for a called strike 3.
His last 2 starts have not been phenomenal. In later innings he will fall behind the count against hitters, then work the count full for long ABs. Even not being at his peak in his last two starts he has still had 7 and 6 strikeouts.
If we get a C grade game out of McLean, he should have a good shot of hitting this. If we get an A game, he could get 8/9 Ks easy.
The Pick: Nolan McLean Strikeout Ladder – Over 5.5 K 1u (-120), Over 6.5 K .3u (+165)
Hit Parlay of the Day
JJ Bleday has 1+ Hit in 8/L10 games. His .341 xBA and .840 xSLG vs RHP since 5/2 are elite. Mike Burrows for Houston has a .341 BA vs LHH this year. Bleday hasn’t been pulled for a PH in the last few games so highly unlikely. Good chance for 5 PAs.
Jacob Wilson has a nice 11 game hit streak going. He has 1+ Hit in 18/L20 games. .464 xBA vs RHP since 5/2. Kyle Bradish for Baltimore is very poor vs RHH this year at a .396 BA.
The Pick: JJ Bleday + Jacob Wilson 1+ Hit 1u (+118)
